Employee Spotlight: Diane Jensen

Employee Spotlight: Diane Jensen – Store Manager, Bloomington Arc’s Value Village

Do you know Diane? Her core strengths are achiever, responsibility, input, learner and intellectual but you probably recognize her from her friendly smile and big hugs! Before joining our team, Diane was a high school teacher, antique dealer and clean water / environmental activist which made her a great fit for this job and such an asset to our organization! Diane’s work ethic, positivity and can-do attitude make her an indispensable member of our Village.

Mali Nareff, Manager: “Diane always has a positive, can-do attitude and is there to support her staff however possible.” Retail is challenging yet Diane helps keep everyone’s spirits high. She believes in the team and what can be accomplished. “Diane has a wealth of crazy information especially concerning antiques. There have been many times when someone will bring something to Diane, she will take one look at it and ramble off not only what it is, but what it is used for and what it is called. One example being the horned shaped item we all assumed was a salt or pepper shaker, and Diane was able to tell us that it was a pounce pot and it was used back in the day to sprinkle sand or fine powder, most often made from powdered cuttlefish bone that was used both to dry ink and to sprinkle on a rough writing surface to make it smooth enough for writing. It is fun to learn from her and gain fun knowledge that I can then pass on.”

Greg Rue, Thrift Manager: Diane can be described in three words “strategic, energetic, and fun!”

Diane says store guests like her store because it’s a great place. “We got the stuff. We like the place! Bright, clean, restocked daily. Always new and fresh. And our staff love loves the customers! There are days we dance!”

Thank you to our volunteers, donors and shoppers for supporting our Bloomington store! We hope to see you soon – come on in and say HI to Diane, Mali and Greg! #BeAVillager #Bloomington
